Coach Sajan wanted to share his mental health journey from his book Better than Last Time: How Fitness can Change Your Life.

“Before I became a trainer and before I helped clients with changing almost every aspect of their life from training to mental health, I was depressed and working a dead-end job. Nothing I seemed to be doing was working.

Individually, people are fairly weak. But, when we combine forces as a team that is when we grow together.

In the past I hired a trainer and her name was Coach Kate. She saw my determination and grit to get better, despite how much I hated life at that time. She inspired me to view the gym as a metaphor for life: To take control of my fitness and life and make that change slowly over time. And that was the first time in five years that I felt like I had control over my life. I felt like I could change and make a difference again.”
